Drug Dose Information

Schizophrenia:

Starting dose: 5 mg by sublingual tablet twice daily.
Recommended dose: 5 mg by sublingual tablet twice daily.
Maximum dose: 10 mg by sublingual tablet twice daily.

To ensure optimal absorption, the tablet should be placed under the tongue and allowed to dissolve completely. The tablet will dissolve in saliva within seconds. Asenapine sublingual tablets should not be crushed, chewed, or swallowed. Patients should not eat or drink for 10 minutes after administration.
Bipolar Disorder

Usual Dose for Acute Treatment (monotherapy):

Recommended starting dose: 10 mg by sublingual tablet twice daily
Maintenance dose of 90% of the patients studied: 10 mg by sublingual tablet twice daily.

Precautions

Patients with history of high blood pressure, cancer, Alzheimer disease, dementia, Parkinson disease, or esophagus problems, low blood volume, alcoholism, heart, liver, and kidney diseases, any allergy.
